Custom exterior wood doors, sometimes called “entry doors” or “front doors,” are often more decorative and ornate, have more durable weather resistant pre-finishes, and are generally stronger and more secure than interior wood doors. For example, exterior doors are made with solid lock and kick rails to resist delamination when exposed to outside elements, while interior doors are made with engineered lock and kick rails. Finishes for exterior doors include a topcoat to protect against moisture and ultra-violet (UV) light, and are thus more expensive than wood finishes for interior doors.
Sidelites and/or transoms can be added to high-end “luxury” front doors, enhancing the grandeur and scale of the entrance.
Exterior doors can include sidelites and/or transoms, adding to the beauty and scale of the entrance.
