Speakeasies + Iron Grilles
Speakeasies
A speakeasy is a small window cut into an entry door at eye level, originally used to discreetly greet visitors – its roots trace back to the Prohibition era of the 1920s. Today, this feature adds both character and security to the door.
Sun Mountain offers three speakeasy styles: square, flat arch, or true arch tops. These can be built with or without glass, typically clear and insulated (IG) glass when included. Each speakeasy features a hinged door with a latch that always opens to the interior of the home.
Speakeasies are typically centered at 60″ from the bottom of the door, with an overall size of 11-1/2″ wide by 13-1/4″ high (measured from the outside of the frame).

Iron Grilles
Wrought iron grilles add Old World charm and enhanced security to wood doors. Mounted securely to the door or sidelites, these grilles protect the glass while contributing a distinctive design element.
Sun Mountain offers a variety of grille styles to complement any door or architectural aesthetic. Each is finished in black and powder-coated for durability. Speakeasy doors often include a small grille, while larger grilles are used over a full glass panel or sidelites.
In addition to standard designs, Sun Mountain can source or fabricate custom ironwork to meet unique specifications.
