Panel Profiles
Sun Mountain offers an extensive collection of over 90 door sticking and panel profiles, ensuring a perfect match for any design style. Many profiles can be enhanced with applied moulding, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication.
Sticking Profiles
“Sticking” refers to the decorative contour along the edges of the stiles and rails (the vertical and horizontal components of a door frame where they meet the panel). Sun Mountain offers a wide range of sticking profiles, each identified by a letter designation.
- A Sticking = Square
- C Sticking = Curved, Concave and Convex (also known as “ogee” or “waterfall”)
- O Sticking = Ovolo, Convex
- ST Sticking = Step
- T Sticking = Bevel
Panel Profiles
“Panels” are the large, flat sections of the door. Unlike lower-quality alternatives that use thin veneers over plywood cores, Sun Mountain’s panels are crafted from solid wood, delivering exceptional durability and artisanal quality. For added stability, panels thicker than 1-¼” are constructed with two-piece solid wood construction, minimizing the risk of warping or cracking.
Sun Mountain offers a variety of panel profiles, each identified by a number:
- Number 1 = Flat Panel, ¾” Thick
- Number 2 = Flat Panel with V-Groove, ¾” Thick
- Number 4 = Raised Panel with Narrow Convex Hip, 1″ Thick
- Number 5 = Raised Panel with Wide Convex Hip, 1-3/4″ Thick
- Number 6 = Raised Panel with Narrow Concave Hip, 1-1/2″ Thick
- Number 7 = Flat Panel with V-Grooves, 1-1/2″ Thick
- Number 8 = Flat Panel with V-Grooves, 1-3/4″ Thick
Applied Mouldings
Applied moulding is an optional decorative trim that adds depth, dimension, and visual interest to door designs. It’s affixed where the panels meet the stiles and rails (the vertical and horizontal frame components) or used to create intricate patterns on flat panels.
Sun Mountain offers over 30 unique applied moulding profiles, each identified by number preceded by “SM” (e.g., SM447, SM46, SM64).
