Door of the Week – Elliptical Arch in Quarter-Sawn White Oak

Sun Mountain provided the doors for a distinguished home in Salt Lake City, Utah. This door features Quarter-Sawn White Oak, a species commonly used in colonial New England furniture—giving the opening a clean, refined look. The radius top is an elliptical arch which requires precision craftsmanship on the jamb, glass, glass mullions, brick moulding, etc. so that all components line up properly and install easily on the jobsite. The 16 glass lites are independent and individually installed (know as a “True Divided Lite” or TDL). TDL is a standard feature on all Sun Mountain glass doors. Sun Mountain can also prepare doors for hardware from any manufacturer, as was the case with this door with a unique bore pattern for custom hardware.
