Panel Doors

Wood panel doors, often called "stile and rail doors", are built with frame and panel construction. The panels are the large, wider boards used to fill the space between the stiles, rails, and mullions. Panels typically fit into grooves in the frame components, and help to keep the door rigid. Wood panels may be flat or raised (i.e. not on the same level or plane as the material around it). View doors...

Plank Doors

Plank doors can be similar in design to panel doors, but with panels made of large vertical slats-vertical boards placed side by side filling the width of the panel space. Sun Mountain's custom wood plank doors are often engineered with solid panels, then "v-grooved" to imitate the individual planks. Additional styles include planks running the entire vertical surface of the door. View doors...

Multi-panel wood designs and designs with added glass (lites), shelfs and corbels are available. These doors are often found in Craftsman (or Bungalow) style homes, widely popular in the early 1900s. These louvers allow open ventilation while preserving privacy and preventing light from entering the room. Wooden louvers may be either fixed or adjustable. Louver doors are most commonly used for closet, wardrobe and laundry room applications, where good ventilation is important. View doors...

The panes can be individual lites, with each pane enclosed and sealed in slotted stiles or mullions (called True Divided Lite, or TDL), or one large pane covered with a false mullion overlay (called Simulated Lite).
